Energy is one of the most important fields of study in our contemporary society. Special focus is placed on energy research based on the recent events such as the convention for limiting global warming proposed by COP21, the multiple financing opportunities for business and research in the energy field and the sustainability efforts that companies strive for towards accomplishing the 2020 objective of the European Union.
The Society for Business Excellence jointly with The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, especially the “Entrepreneurship and Business Administration in Energy” MBA program, encourage participants as academic researchers, practitioners from the business sector, Ph.D. students, people working in public administration and in the non-governmental sector, etc. to submit papers on the topic of Business in Energy and Climate Change.

Adrian Dumitru Tanţău is Professor at ASE Bucharest, UNESCO Chair for Business Administration where he is coordinating since 2014 the MBA Entrepreneurship and Business Administration in Energy. Between 2012 -2016 he was Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. During 2012-2015, he was the President of “Society for Business Excellence” association. Between 2009 and 2013 he was member in the Board of the Company Hidroserv Portile de Fier S.A., Drobeta Turnu Severin. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Politechnical University Bucharest) and a Ph.D. in Management (Bucharest University of Economic Studies). His research activity is focused on business models in energy, especially renewable energy, energy security and energy efficiency. He is member a member of the European Foundation for Entrepreneurship Research, with the headquarter in Amsterdam, since 2006, member of the Commission of Economic Science and Business Administration CNATDCU since 2012, a honorary member of the National Romanian Committee of the Global Energy Council, since 2014.
M. George Darie graduated in 1986 the Politehnica University of Bucharest, Power Plants Department. Since more than 30 years M. George Darie is specialized in thermal power plants and their environmental impact mitigation with specific experience in design, rehabilitation options, research and teaching activities. The experience gained during the activity is materialized in 11 handbooks, more than 70 scientific papers published in the Romanian and foreign journals, proceedings, etc; 32 scientific papers presented at different symposiums, conferences, congresses; more than 40 research contracts.
At present he is the vice-rector of Politehnica University of Bucharest. He is member of the Academy of Romanian Scientists and of the board of National Romanian Committee of the World Energy Council.
Marius has recently completed a two year assignment as Senior Adviser and National Technical Director for Advanced Modeling and Simulations at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Marius and his research group are focused on using high performance computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to understand and predict energy systems. They have developed a multi-scale methodology that is now widely used to design components for applications such as fuels, batteries, and electronics.
Simona Chirică is a partner at Schoenherr Romania, specialized in civil, commercial and tax matters. She is an experienced real estate lawyer, assisting a considerable portfolio of clients active in real estate development (commercial, office, industrial, residential), retail (food and non-food, fashion, DYI), agribusiness, energy, in all phases of their investments in Romania, including in greenfield projects, expansion plans or exit strategies. Simona has assisted on headline transactions in these markets and is also assisting relevant clients on general day to day legal matters in connection with the development or operation of their projects. With a focus on preventive advice, she has prepared and delivered hundreds of compliance training programs/presentations to clients and has prepared/reviewed company-wide compliance programs. Simona is a lecturer at Bucharest’s Academy for Economic Studies, an active speaker in specialized events and the author of numerous legal books and articles.
The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and UNESCO Department for Business Administration on the 22-23 of March 2018 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ). The papers accepted at ICBE 2018 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation.
The presented papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index.
In addition, a selection of the best papers will be published in the international journal Management & Marketing. Challenges for the Knowledge Society by De Gruyter Open, indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Scopus, Proquest, Cabell’s Directory and more than 20 other international databases (www.degruyter.com/view/j/mmcks).
At the final ceremony, for scientific merits and rigour there will be granted two Excellence Awards, and for each section a Best paper award.

As a first step, we require a 300-word abstract which is to be received by the 30th of October 2017. Submissions must be made using the online submission form available at www.bizexcellence.ro/icbe and the final paper should be accompanied by publishing agreements and declaration of originality.
