Education is part of everyone’s life in different ways. Higher education institutions build strategies and face more and more challenges in the current context of global business. Main characteristics of educational sector worldwide reveal the need of new academic leadership approaches in order to consider the lack of institutional resources, the increasing competition and higher exigencies from all the economic actors, the sustainability requirements for all the actions, the increasing internationalization importance etc. A new model of education to support employability for future labour market should reflect the dynamism of the society changing from an industrial type towards a knowledge based one, with all macro-environmental factors influences. At individual level, decision making becomes more complex in terms of great educational experience, but also in terms of employability, while at institutional level, higher education institutions look for national support and fight for autonomy in order to get a stable position on the educational market. New trends in education must be identified and strategically followed for institutional and individual benefit.

The main topics covered by the hereby call for papers are related but not limited to:

  • educational strategies, new challenges and new goals
  • quality assurance challenges in universities,
  • marketing and rankings – pros and cons,
  • the marketization and massification of education,
  • quality assurance and employability link,
  • reaching internationalization,
  • the role of stakeholders in the global context,
  • university-industry relationship,
  • management vs leadership,
  • classical vs modern teaching and learning,
  • flexibility versus standardization in education,
  • differentiation versus harmonization of contents in education,
  • multifunctional skills.

magdalena-iordache-platisMagdalena Iordache-Platis is a professor at the University of Bucharest since 1992 and currently she is also a vice-rector in charge with the quality assurance and business relations. Between 2000 – 2008 she was the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Administration within the same university. She was the coordinator of the institutional evaluation process of EUA – IEP in 2012 and of the external evaluation process at national level ARACIS in 2015. She was part of different research teams in projects run at international or national level dedicated to quality placement for students, career development for students and graduates and many others.

 

 

Dumitru Miron is Professor at ASE Bucharest, International Business and Economics Department. Dumitru MIRON has an extensive experience in research (10 research and development projects), academic publishing (21 books and over 50 published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and proceedings) and academic governance (State Secretary for Higher Education and European integration with the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth between 2005-2007; member of national and European ERASMUS –SOCRATES Committee; member of Bologna Follow-Up Group; former vice-dean, dean and Vice-Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and). He graduated numerous training programs in the field of education, in Romania and abroad and is a member of Team Europe.

 

 

Publication opportunities

The conference is organized by Society for Business Excellence and UNESCO Department for Business Administration on the 22-23 of March 2018 at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages (FABIZ). The papers accepted at ICBE 2018 will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration, payment and presentation.

The presented papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings volume under the German Publishing House De Gruyter and they will be indexed in EBSCO, Proquest, ExLibris, OCLC, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, CELDES, CNPIE, Naviga, and will be submitted to Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science (WOS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

In addition, a selection of the best papers will be published in the international journal Management & Marketing. Challenges for the Knowledge Society by De Gruyter Open, indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Scopus, Proquest, Cabell’s Directory and more than 20 other international databases (www.degruyter.com/view/j/mmcks).

At the final ceremony, for scientific merits and rigour there will be granted two Excellence Awards, and for each section a Best paper award.

As a first step, we require a 300-word abstract which is to be received by the 30th of October 2017. Submissions must be made using the online submission form available at www.bizexcellence.ro/icbe and the final paper should be accompanied by publishing agreements and declaration of originality.
